Wallace Calais

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. , on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 , at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Wallace Calais, 87, who passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette . Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Father Flo Calais will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Jessica Anderson and Rebecca LeBlanc. Gifts will be presented to the Altar by Blakie, Kasen, and Blaine Goulas, and Rylan and Blake Calais. Music will be provided by Pope Huval; selections will include, 'Memories', 'I Can Only Imagine', 'Stairway to Heaven', and '23rd Psalm.' Mr. Calais was the owner and operator of Calais Seafood Processing Plant for 24 years before his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, camping, and traveling with his family and friends. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life and he treasured the many times he could spend with them. Mr. Calais honorably served his country during World War II. Survivors include his son, Stafford Calais and his wife, Emma; his daughter, Arlene C. Goulas and her husband, Rusty, all of Henderson; five grandchildren, Colby Patin, Jessica Anderson, Russell 'Pookie' Goulas, Blakie Goulas, and Brody Calais; two step grandchildren, Mandy Landry and Josh Goudeau and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Soignier Calais; his son, Blake Calais; his daughter, Genelle C. Malin; a grandchild, Aaron Calais; his parents, Jean Batiste ' France ' Calais and Palmiere Huval Calais; two brothers, Lanley and Holden Calais; and two sisters, Vivian Patin and Wilma Trahan. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Kenneth Soignier at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Colby Patin, Russell 'Pookie' Goulas, Brody Calais, Ralph Calais, Stephen Anderson, and Mike Melancon. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Soignier, Dennis Carter, Lynn Trahan, Cecil 'Goose' Angelle, Josh Robert, Josh Goudeau, and Melvin 'Red' Babin. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
