New Iberia - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Virgie Mae Batiste, 75, who quietly passed away, surrounded by her family, on Monday, June 21, 2021, in Parks.The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday. The family requests that visitors kindly wear masks while attending. On December 14, 1998, Virgie married her husband, Dudley Batiste.Virgie was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family. Virgie was never one to complain and never met a stranger. She will be missed for her strength, her kindness, her amazing sense of humor, her compassionate personality and especially for the love she gave not only to her family but to everyone she would meet.On July 11, 1992, Virgie dedicated her life to Jehovah and served as a faithful member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in St. Martinville, LA. In her congregation, she will be remembered for her steadfast determination to walk in truth despite any obstacles she faced. Her favorite scripture, that she held dear, was Isaiah 41:10, 13She is survived by her seven children, Tessie Savoy (Christopher) of Parks, Angela Morris (Kevin) of Pearland, TX, Felicia Anderson of Lafayette, Leonard Colomb (Carol) of Breaux Bridge, Ross Colomb (Laura) of Haymarket, VA, Yolanda Colomb Cormier of Breaux Bridge and Leslie Walker (Christopher) of Broussard; siblings, Lilly Mae Broussard of Lafayette, Persely Charles (Jennifer) of Parks and Lorena Janz of Houston, TX; fifteen grandchildren, Brittany Colomb, Taurean Savoy (Brittany), Crystal Hensley (Miqulon), Breylon Anderson, Morgan Craig (Preston), Mila Anderson, Jade Colomb (Jalen Joseph), Alyssa Colomb, Laina Colomb, Mackenzie Cormier, Desmond Soileau, Isaac Walker, Christopher Walker, Christashia Walker, Christashaia Walker; nine great grandchildren, Jaliey Mae Joseph, Skylar Roberts, Logan Alexander, Amir Webster, Cohen Jackson, Tristan Sartin, Saige Craig, Avery Craig, Dominique Thomas; a great grandson on the way, Knox Savoy; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.Virgie is preceded in death by her parents, Morris Charles and the former Lillian Phillips, her husband Dudley Batiste, a sister, Elizabeth C. Bernard and a brother, Joseph M.
