New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Sidwin J. Richard, 84, who passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018, in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 10:00 am until 2:30 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 1:00 pm Thursday. A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Richard was born on November 1, 1933 in Franklin to the late Sidney and Winifred "Muzzy" Campbell Richard. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from the Degussa Carbon Black Plant. His hobbies included fishing, duck hunting, coaching youth football, and woodworking. Mr. Richard also enjoyed scuba diving and had won several King Spear Fisherman Awards. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette DeRouen Richard of New Iberia; son, Chadd Richard and wife Christie of New Iberia; daughter, Charisse Prescott and husband Keith of Conroe, Texas; step son, Dan A. O''Quinn, Jr. and wife Laurie of New Iberia; sisters, Sharon Biggs and husband Donald of Lafayette, Hope Sansing of Alexandria; brother, Sidney J, Richard, Jr. and wife Gayle of Franklin; grandchildren, Cody Richard, Chase Richard, Catherine R. Thomas, Hannah O''Quinn, Josh O''Quinn, David O''Quinn, Jeannie Simon, Korey Prescott, and Jeremy Prescott; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Richard; sisters, Winifred "Paddy" Richard Champagne and Sidonie R. Bodin. Pallbearers will be Cody Richard, Chase Richard, Josh O''Quinn, David O''Quinn, Korey Prescott, and Jeremy Prescott. Honorary pallbearers include Phyllis Castillo, Jeannie Simon, Johnny Schexnayder, and Kenneth Reaux. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, LA 70560, 337.365.3331 is in charge of arrangements.
