New Iberia ;- Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Roy Placide Bonin, 69, who died on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, with Military Honors by the New Iberia VFW Post 1982. Rev. Mark Miley will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Friday. Visitation will continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Born on December 25, 1943, Mr. Bonin was a native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, and was a graduate of Catholic High. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, receiving the National Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. Mr. Bonin was a retired grocer, having worked work A & P Grocery, Krogers, Simoneauds Grocery, and Bi-Lo Supermarket. An avid LSU fan, his hobbies included bowling, dancing, going to the casino, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and family. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sally Ann Mayhew Bonin of New Iberia; son, Kevin Paul Bonin of New Iberia; daughter, Karen Lynn Goodyear and husband Jon of New Iberia; brothers, Hayward Bonin, Sr. and wife Margaret of New Iberia, Ronald 'Boo' Bonin and wife Gloria of New Iberia; grandchildren, Blake Bonin, Kaylor Goodyear, and Alyse Goodyear all of New Iberia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lillian Menard Bonin; brother, Rickey Bonin; and a nephew, Dwight Bonin. Pallbearers will be Kevin Bonin, Jon Goodyear, Hayward Bonin, Sr., Ronald 'Boo' Bonin, Blake Bonin, and Hayward Bonin, Jr. Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, LA 70560, 337.365.3331, is in charge of arrangements. ;
