Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11 a .m. , on Monday, September 27, 2010 , at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge , for Jerome Batiste, 81, who passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at his residence. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge . Deacon Jim Davis will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by George and Eva Diggs. Jerome was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved to spend his free time fishing and enjoyed watching baseball. Mr. Batiste is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith Castille Batiste; his brothers, Joseph, Whitley, Clausy, Walter, John, Jr., and Adali Batiste; and his sisters, Locadia B. Lewis, Germaine B. Galentine, and Marie Bibiana Batiste. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8 a .m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 9 a .m. Pallbearers will be Ernest Batiste, Karrell Charles, Andrew Batiste, Walter Lewis, Lawerence Galentine, and David Batiste. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his nephews, and great nephews.
