Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2006, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia for James "Frenchie" Gordon, 85, who passed to a new life on Thursday, November 30, 2006 in Houston, TX. Interment will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Readers will be Maryland Winfrey and Michael Barks. James Gordon, born on July 4, 1921, was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA and a Katrina evacuee who was residing in Houston, TX with his sister, Lou Anna Harvey. After his retirement from the International Longshoreman Association, Local 300 in New Orleans he was a general contractor. Survivors include his sons, Jesse James Gordon, Michael Gordon, Andrew Gordon, Mitchell Gordon, and Anthony James Gordon; his daughters, Jencey Gordon Trigs, Michelle Gordon Adams, Sandra Gordon Collins and Monique Gordon; his brothers, Bennett Gordon of Ft. Worth, TX and Joseph Gordon of Houston, TX; his sisters, Lou Anna Harvey, Verda Lavan, both of Houston, TX, Nettie White of Breaux Bridge and Georgia Gill of New Jersey; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Powerlita Gordon; one son, Samuel Gordon; one brother, George Gordon; and two sisters, Carol Foster and Agnes Winfrey. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church from 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and continue until time of service. Pallbearers will be Jesse, Michael, Andrew, and Mitchell Gordon, Herman Lockhart and Steve Luke. Honorary pallbearers will be Karanja Lipscomb and Ronnie Boggs, Jr. Pellerin Funeral Home, 337.332.2111, is in charge of arrangements.
