James Dupuis

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for James Dupuis, 79, who passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Reverend Donald Pelous will officiate at the funeral Mass and conduct the service. Mr. Dupuis was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having honorably served his country in the United States Army. He received his B.A. in Elementary Education and his Masters of Education. His teaching career began in 1956, until his appointment as Principal of Breaux Bridge Elementary School, where he worked for many years until his retirement. A devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, James served as an Usher, Eucharistic Minister and on the Parish Council for many years. He also served as a reader and was a choir member for Fr. Mike in Henderson many years ago. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2398. He will long be remembered for his compassion and dedication to his profession and will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. He is survived by his son, Michael James Dupuis, of Breaux Bridge; and two brothers, Adley Dupuis and his wife, Ann, of Breaux Bridge; and John Dupuis, of Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Domingue Dupuis; his parents, Herbert and Ada Mason Dupuis; three brothers, Steven, Eno, and Frank Dupuis; and three sisters, Rena Morrow, Lydia Guidry, and Pauline Dupuis. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time 10 p.m. on Monday and continue at 8 a.m. on Tuesday until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Monday. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
