Harriet Schwing

June 21, 1939 — September 18, 2007

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, on Thursday, September 20, 2007, at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Harriet Hebert Schwing, 68, who passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2007, in a Lafayette Hospital. Entombment will follow in the Beau Pre' Mausoleum. Rev. Chester Arceneaux will be the Celebrant. Readers will be Lissa Schwing, Bonnie Schwing, and Margaret Hebert. Gift Bearers include Eric Christopher Schwing, Jr, Caroline Elizabeth Schoeffler, and Lauren Alexandra Schoeffler. A graduate of St. Joseph High School, Mrs. Schwing received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, from USL, where she was a Alpha Omega Pi member. She worked at Oshner's Hospital in New Orleans, and then went on to become a private duty nurse in Jeanerette. She was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, as well as Theresian's in New Iberia. Mrs. Schwing was also a volunteer of the Shadows on the Teche and a member of Fortnightly VII, and a sponsor of IPAL due to her love of the arts. She was an avid tennis player and through her passion and love of the game, helped her kids achieve their tennis accomplishments. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, George Edward Schwing, Sr. of New Iberia; sons, George Edward Schwing, Jr. and wife Bonnie of Baton Rouge, Eric Christopher Schwing, Sr. and wife Lissa of Mandeville; daughter, Jeanne Schwing Schoeffler and husband Todd of Lafayette; brothers, Paul H. Hebert, Jr. and wife Judy of Lafayette, Luke Joseph Hebert of Jeanerette; sisters, Patricia Hebert Forsander and husband Roy of Bellevue, WA, Rose Lee Hebert Lapp and husband Ron of Rogersville, TN; 8 grandchildren, Eric Christopher Schwing, Jr., Caroline Elizabeth Schoeffler, Lauren Alexandra Schoeffler, Jean-Paul Schwing Schoeffler, Mary Lynn Schwing, Benjamin Luke Schwing, Emma Yvonne Schwing, and Anna Claire Schwing. Mrs. Schwing was preceded in death by her parents, St. Paul Herman Hebert and Yvonne Crochet Hebert. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service. Pallbearers include Kevin Hebert, Roy Forsander, Ron Lapp, Todd Schoeffler, Luke Hebert, and Robert Luke Crochet. Honorary pallbearers include Paul A. Hebert, Paul Schwing, James Schwing, Pierre Schwing, Timothy Forsander, Harold Halbert, and Eric Christopher Schwing, Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic High School, Development Dept, 1301 DeLaSalle Drive, New Iberia, LA. 70560, Cathedral Carmel School, 848 St. John Street, Lafayette, LA. 70501, or St. Paul's School, P.O.
