George Green

George "Arthur" Green entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 29th 2008 at 7:31pm at Tulane University Hospital. He was 71. Born in Opelousas, Louisiana, April 23, 1937, from the union of the late Colbert and Bessie Green, Arthur resided in New Orleans for over 50 years where he labored as a master automobile mechanic and nurtured his family. He enjoyed cooking, entertaining and playing the racehorses. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Savoie Green for 50 glorious years. From this union came Denard Green (Linda) of Church Point, Mark Green (Yvonne) of New Orleans, Barry Green (Tina) of DeRidder, and Catina Green Peoples (William), also of New Orleans. Grandfather of Donovan and Christopher Green (Denard), Tenesha Mark and Sylvester, John, and Denise Para (Mark), Eric Clay, Otis and David Johnson (Barry), and Jade Ivear and William Eugene Peoples II (Catina). He leaves to mourn two brothers, Martin Richard Green, of Terrytown and John Nolan Green of Opelousas, and six sisters Evelda Guillory of Eunice, Lucy Sylvanna Stelly of Houston, TX, Elizabeth Hargrove of Terrytown, Felecia Sockwell of Houston, TX, Mary Gaines (Steward) of New Orleans, and Irma Hansell (Arrid Sr.) of Houston, TX. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and the loyalest of friends. His oldest brother, Patrick Sylvester Green, preceded him in death. He was a faithful member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at St. Peter Claver Church, 1923 St. Philip St, New Orleans on Saturday, December 6th, 2008 at 10:00am, with visitation beginning at 9:00am. Additional viewing to be held on Sunday, December 7th at Pellerin Funeral Home, 2238 Bushville Highway, Cecilia, LA. beginning at 9:30 am followed by funeral and burial services at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Cemetery in Cecilia, LA at 12 noon. Louisiana Undertaking Co. 1449 N. Claiborne Ave, New Orleans, LA 70116 and Pellerin Funeral Home have both coordinated the arrangements.
