New Iberia - Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Oak Hill Baptist Church, in the 7 Mile Community near Hemphill, Texas, for Mike Edgar, 61 who died Saturday, December 8, 2012 in his home of 14 years in New Iberia. Brother Steve Rye will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Mike was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts to Air Force Master Sargent Farice Edgar and Eula Mae Everett Edgar. He was raised in the piney woods of East Texas between Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn lakes. He was a 1970 graduate of West Sabine High School in Pineland, Texas and then attended Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, where he received his degree in petroleum technology. He loved to hunt and fish. Mike was a professional angler and fished in many tournaments in Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas. He also had a great love for music. When he and his cousin, Charles, would get together with friends for some picking and singing, it always drew a crowd. Mike retired as a production foreman with OXY USA, Inc., formally Cities Service Oil and Gas, in Madison, KS and in Lindsay, OK. He moved to South Louisiana and worked for Gulf Coast International in New Iberia. He has had many hunting, fishing, and picking friends. He will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncles, Bobo, Charlie, Howell, and Billy Everett, Uncle Furney and Aunt Ferle Edgar, cousins, Charles Edgar, Hoy Edgar, and cousin Cindy Armstrong Koehler. He survived by his loving friend Debi Hargroder and her son Joshua of New Iberia; brother Wayne of Fairplay, CO, brother Pat and wife Peggy of Loreauville, LA, sister, Tammy Baker of Nacogdoches, TX, brother Glen and wife Marina of Douglass, TX; aunt, Lucille Everett Armstrong of San Antonio, TX; Uncle Clifford and Aunt Sylvia Everett of Wimberly, TX as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Everett, Garrett Wagner, Drue Wagner, Brian Ducus, Tom Grenard, Adam Edgar, Paul Morain, Josh Hargroder, and Eric Peters.
