Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 21, 2016, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Eugene Menard, 79, who passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, in Coteau. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Brian Harrington will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 1:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be Thursday at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until 2:15 PM. A native and lifelong area resident, Mr. Menard was born on August 23, 1937 to Homer and Azilda Girouard Menard. He is a retired welder and was an avid New Orleans Saints and LSU Fan. Mr. Menard loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Jane Viator Menard of Coteau; daughters, Debra Andre' and husband Artie of Coteau, Dayna Verret and husband Craig of New Iberia, Denise Menard of Coteau; son, David Menard and wife Memorie of Denham Springs; sisters, Mazel Meyers of Coteau, Lorraine Girouard and husband Bert of New Iberia; brother, Francis Menard and wife Barbara of New Iberia; grandchildren, Devin Lewis, Dustin Menard, Corey Freyou, Carla Thibodeaux, CJ Miguez, Cody Miguez, Scott Arnaud, Seth Verret, Tori Verret, Malori Menard, Lani Menard, Madison Menard, Colton Menard; 16 great grandchildren; and his beloved pet dog, Gin. He was preceded in death by a son, Darrel Menard; daughter, Donna Menard; siblings, Lennis Menard, Lloyd Menard, Theresa Myers, Evelyn Theriot, Ovey Menard, Harold Menard, Syprine Menard, Whitney Menard, Jerry Jones, infant Elvis Menard; grandson, Daniel Menard; great grandson, Matthew Arnaud; wife's parents, Harry & Agnes Viator. Pallbearers will be David Menard, Craig Verret, Seth Verret, Scott Arnaud, Rod Landry, Troy Capritto, Dylan Menard, Drake Lewis, and Colton Menard. The family would like to give special thanks to Alyson Champagne, Emily Stelly, Heather Richard, Rea Francois, Erin Viator, Carrisa Harrison, the 4th floor staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, and Dr. Michelle Menard.
