New Iberia - Clare Louise Bernard DeBardeleben of New Iberia , Louisiana died peacefully in her sleep at Lafayette General Hospital on Tuesday evening, November 16. Her death was sudden and unexpected, the result of complications following open heart surgery. She is survived by three children and their spouses as well as three grandsons and their wives. Her beloved husbsand of forty-six years, Charles Albert DeBardeleben, died in 1993. She would have been eighty-six years old in January 2011 , and she enjoyed living independently and actively until her death. She attended all of her children and grandchildren's college graduations. Known by many as "Weezie", Clare Louise adored her family and friends and enjoyed nothing more than having good conversations and many laughs with all. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed traveling, watching movies, tackling word games and crossword puzzles, and crocheting. She was a graduate of Sophie Newcomb College , now part of Tulane University . Her children are Toy and Sherry DeBardeleben of New Iberia , Louisiana , Diane and Jeff Pettus of Pittsboro , North Carolina , and Edwin DeBardeleben and Mimi Davis of Ormand Beach , Florida . Her very-loved grandchildren are Chip and Chase Ann DeBardeleben of Louisville , Kentucky , Bobby and Heather DeBardeleben of Birmingham , Alabama , and John Presley and Kei Ojima of Tokyo , Japan . Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780 , New York , NY 10008 . A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 20 at 1:00 PM at Rosehill Cemetery , followed by a reception with the family at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, f rom 2:00 to 4:00 PM .
