New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia for Caissius Q. Viator, 92, who died Sunday, May 27, 2012 in Metairie . Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery . Rev. Gary Schexnayder will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, LA 70560, 337.365.3331. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM . Born on August 2, 1919 , in New Iberia , Mr. Viator proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, during World War II. He worked as a Juvenile Director for the Iberia Parish Sheriff Department, and as director of Holy Family Cemetery . His hobbies included riding horses and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Della Credeur Viator; sons, Casey Viator and wife Cheryl of Clearwater, Florida, Chuck Viator and wife Susan of Metairie; daughters, Judy Atteberry and husband Charles of Houston, Barbara Carter and Dr. Thad Carter of Pass Christian, Mississippi, Lynette Reich of Houston, Della Ishida and husband Shin of New Orleans; brother, Mark A. Viator of New Iberia; grandchildren, Ellen Atteberry Hostetler and husband Jeffrey, Jennifer Carter Wheaton and husband William, Bryan T. Carter, William C. Reich and wife Audra, Sarah E. Carter, Michael T. Carter, Lauren Reich Barton and husband Chad, Rebecca L. Reich, Amy Claire Viator, Margaret A. Viator, Caroline L. Viator; great grandchildren, Madelyn Claire Hostetler, and Mikayla Rae Reich.He was preceded in death by his parents, Everard and Lucille Dugas Viator; a daughter Martha Viator; brothers, Jules Viator, Brutus Viator; sister, Cleo Trappey; grandson, Charles 'Mac' Atteberry; son-in-law, William 'Randy' Reich. Pallbearers will be Casey Viator, Chuck Viator, Jimmy Viator, William Reich, Bryan Carter, and Michael Carter. Honorary pallbearers include Mark A. Viator and Jesse Henry. Ther family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Sunrise Senior Living, Concerned Care Home Health and Hospice, and Sister Servants of Mary for their extra ordinary care and compassion.
