New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM , Sunday, August 21, 2011 , at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Byron L. 'Bub' Darcey, Sr. 60, who passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2011 in New Iberia . Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery . Rev. Buddy Breaux will officiate. Born on March 16, 1951 , Byron was a native and lifelong resident of New Iberia , working as a welder fitter for Red Fox Machine Shop and Ace Machine Shop. His hobbies included art, and fishing, however Byron had a passion for music, listening to many different artists including some of his favorites such as Barry Manilow, the Eagles, the Beatles, and many others. He also enjoyed playing the keyboard, and other instruments. A devout Catholic, one of Byrons greatest pleasures was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his beloved dog 'Chip', whether it was playing in the park or around the house. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Cyndi Hebert Darcey of New Iberia ; son, Byron L. 'BJ' Darcey, Jr. and wife Dee of New Iberia; grandchildren, Kayleigh Michelle Darcey, Caitlin Mouton, Christopher Mouton, II; sisters-in-law, Arleen H. Guillot of New Iberia, Mozell H. Fletcher of Jeanerette, Brenda Darcey of Hendersonville, TN; and his beloved dog, 'Chip'. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred J. Darcey, Sr. and Fannie Bodin Darcey; and a brother, Alfred 'Al' Darcey, Jr. Pallbearers will be Paul Glenn Broussard, Chad Darcey, Melvin Darcey, Brandon Darcey, Christopher Mouton, II, and Wiley Landry. Honorary pallbearers include Arthur Touchet, Manley Chauvin, Dwight Tate, Dr. Kenneth Ritter, Jr., Jacques Cousin, Charlie Collins, Clarence Shoemake, Billy Guillot, Willie Guillot, Lawless Morris, Craig Fletcher, Bryan Fletcher, and J.R. Fletcher. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 9:30 AM until 2:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia .
