She was a tireless campaigner and fund raiser, and later used those skills in campaigns to raise money for the Iberia Performing Arts League (IPAL). She was also politically successful in her own right, being twice elected to represent Iberia Parish as a member of the Louisiana Republican Party State Central Committee. She delighted in her six grandchildren. Mrs. Caffery is survived by sons, Patrick T. Caffery, Jr. and wife Margaret, Michael M. Caffery and wife Katherine, and Kevin Caffery, all of New Iberia; grandchildren, Caroline Young and husband, Dr. Steven Young, Cathleen Bush and husband, Patrick Bush, Margaret Caffery, Dr. Michael Caffery, Jr., Thomas Caffery and Anne Caffery; and sisters-in-law, Ethel Bercegeay of Newport, NC and Virginia Bercegeay of Broussard.
