Alfred Fuselier

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Alfred Gene Fuselier, 78, who passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at his residence. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville will officiate at the funeral service. Musical selections will include, 'Amazing Grace', 'How Great Thou Art', 'Old Rugged Cross', and 'Wind Beneath My Wings.' Mr. Fuselier, a native of St. Martinville, had been in the oil industry for 39 years. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force and served 4 years during the Korean Conflict. He worked for B. J. Hughes for over 29 years. He was the region manager in the machinery division. He also worked for Roger Oil Tools until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of International Association of Drilling Contractors (I.A.D.C.), serving as Secretary Treasurer for 24 years. He worked with LAGCOE 28 years as Co-Chairman of the outside exhibits, and also served on the Board of Directors. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9822. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Goldie B. Fuselier, of Lafayette; his daughter, Adele F. Broussard and husband, Dr. Curtis A. Broussard, of Gulfport, MS; his son, Edward Fuselier, of Angie, LA; his grandchildren, Joshua Pugh, and Andre, Adam and Amanda Broussard; and his great grandchildren, Andrew and Zachary Broussard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile Fuselier and Camille P. Ozenne; his children, Paulette Pugh, and Renee and Duane Fuselier; his grandson, Brian Pugh; his brother, Roland 'Jack' Fuselier; and his sister, Marie Louise 'Teta' Graugnard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. and continue until time of service. A Rosary will be recited 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Pallbearers will Andre Broussard, Adam Broussard, Dale Fuselier, Joshua Pugh, Tommy Bergeron, and Albert Bergeron. The family wishes to thank Journey Hospice for their kind and tender care during his illness.
