Charles Duhe was a man of diverse interests and an unquenchable curiosity that continued throughout his life. At various times, he was a farmer and a doctor, a conservative and a biker, a lover of music and art, including body art. He was a traveler through life, continuously collecting people, experiences and knowledge as he went. Charles Duhe was a 1960 graduate of the Mercersburg Academy, a college preparatory boarding school, in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. He continued his education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University in 1965. While at LSU, he was a member of their gymnastics team and a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. From 1965 to 1975, Duhe worked as a sugar cane farmer in Jeanerette, Louisiana. From 1967 to 1970, he served his country as a member of the Louisiana National Guard. From 1970 to 1975, he served on the local Farm Bureau. In 1975, he left farming to found Superior Hydraulics in Lafayette. He headed the sales division of his company, excelling at creating and building relationships with his customers. Not satisfied with business success, after retirement Duhe began another phase of his life, studying through his association with Dr. John Jester, a local doctor of Naturopathy. He earned his Doctor of Naturopathy from Yamuni Institute of Healing Art in 2000. In 2005, he was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy in Behavioral Medicine from the University of Science Arts and Technology. The practice of natural medicine to help patients with healing and energy work may have been the most satisfying phase of Duhe’s life. His practice was known as ‘The Re-think Tank’ with the motto, ‘Making Life Work’. During that time, he also became an avid motorcycle enthusiast, taking to the roads with his wife and friends, Pat Alleman and Alex Ozzrd-Low, to explore the roadways of the country. He was a member and active participant of HOGS, the Harley Owners Group. Charles Duhe was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lambert Duhe and his mother, Gertie Dennison Duhe.
